Project.1 - Plug-in Filter for The Gimp

Due on
9.25.00

Assignment - Devise an 'interesting' filter for The Gimp using provided framework.
Plan - Start simple. Refine. Make something cool.
Work - First filter drew a grid. Second filter made a rectangular mosaic. Third filter makes a circular mosaic with a couple of different effects. Fourth filter will make circular water droplets that refract the image underneath them. These may be regularly spaced or randomly placed.

Project.2 - Postscript Art

Due on
xx.xx.xx

Assignment - Make an interesting piece of art using the Postscript language.
Plan - Use a simple shape/algorithm in unorthodox ways. Simplicity is beauty. Or make an intestinal maze 1 mile long.
Work - Lots of experimentation, not many results. My 'final' project ended up being an alphabetic halftoning program.

Project.3 - Genetic Texture Synthesis

Due on
xx.xx.xx

Assignment - Make black & white texture image using a genetic algorithm.
Plan - Try ten million fitness functions until I find one I like. Tweaking genetic algorithms pisses me off.

Project.final - Some Kind of Graphical Physical Simulation (SKOGPS)

Due on
12.19.00

Project Plan - [go]
Progress - [go] Updated 11.27.00

Description - Make a combination particle system and renderer. The particle system will simulate either bees or abstract feather-light particles. They will both be attracted to movement. The renderer will draw either bees or light streaks.
