Zion National Park - 12/01/2003
In southwestern Utah is Zion National Park, one of many national parks in the area and selected sort-of at random by us to visit. It's cool. Go there. It's a big canyon with steep 2,000' walls and lots of waterfalls, slot canyons, and other pretty things around. We did some hiking to the Narrows and the Emerald Pools, we did a little biking, and we made fire at our campground, which had a burbling stream next to it.
Leaving Zion meant we had to take the east exit and navigate a mile long narrow tunnel. Our vehicle is classified as oversized for this tunnel, so we had to pay $10 and the rangers had to shut down all traffic in the tunnel so that we could drive right down the middle of the road. Fun!
After two nights in their campground, we're on the road to the Grand Canyon via Page, AZ, home of.... well... Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon Dam and not much else for miles and miles. But there's a Wal-Mart and thus a free campsite for us for the night.
Now we're REALLY on the road again
