Pushing the Chairman up cliffs - 08/17/2003
We departed Natural Bridge State Park and headed essentially across the highway to Red River Gorge, which is, among other things, a premier climbing destination. I have zero knowledge of it, though, so I figured we'd drive through, spot the climbing areas, hang out a bit... well, climbing areas are never marked and it turns out none were visible from the road. Oh well. I had no climbing partner anyway.
We did get to have another adventure in the Gorge with the RV, however. Those roads were tiny and steep and twisty. The chairman was on the verge of overheating and/or falling off a cliff. Yikes, it was nerve-wracking.
Did I mention the tunnel? We went through an old tunnel (Nada Tunnel) which was one lane. They basically chipped out the rock, threw some asphalt down, and called it a tunnel. Whatever the dimensions of the RV are, that's approximately how wide and tall the tunnel was. Did I mention it was one lane with no traffic signals whatsoever?
