When it rains, it pours - 02/26/2004
I've been searching for a job since approximately last April. As the months tick by, my job search has both stepped up in intensity and broadened out. As the savings tick by to nothing, my desperation level rises. Thus, it is with great irony that I annouce I have TWO job possibilities.
On February 25 I interviewed at Microsoft for the 5th time and with the 8th group. This one was with the XBox Live group. Today, February 26, they offered me a job. Finally.
On February 20, I spoke with some folks at Sony Pictures Imageworks (or was it Sony Pictures Animation? Unclear.) about a visual effects programming / tools position. I'd be working with my old friend Karl Stiefvater for a bit, then helping to maintain some of the stuff he's doing. I interviewed with Imageworks on Monday February 23. They seem to really want me, so I'm basically just waiting for the offer.
These jobs are quite different. Both are very cool and appealing to me, although in different ways. I guess I'll have to weigh everything and make a very tough decision. Money, job duties, location, career advancement, etc.
